FAQs
What is Give TogeTHer?
Give TogeTHer is a special opportunity for the global Trinity Hall community—including students, alumni, friends, staff, and Fellows—to come together and make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and College. By uniting in collective support, we can help ensure that every student has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive and we protect Trinity Hall for the future. During this 67.5 hour online fundraising challenge, from 13 to 16 May 2025, we are aiming to raise as much as possible to support our students and College. We strive to provide the best possible education and pastoral care for our students. By supporting us you can show you believe in the difference Trinity Hall can make to students from all backgrounds, play a vital part in the community to which you belong and become part of our joint effort to ensure that Trinity Hall’s mission continues to excel in the modern world.
What is different about Give TogeTHer in 2025?
This year, in celebration of our 675th Anniversary, we will be holding our Giving Days across 67.5 hours in celebration of this special anniversary. All donations given towards this appeal will also be counted towards our larger 675 Campaign, visit https://campaign.trinhall.cam.ac.uk/ to find out more.
What difference will my donation make?
Your gift today will enable students from all backgrounds to come to Trinity Hall and make the most of their time here irrespective of their financial circumstances. All gifts, whatever size they may be, add up. Having a large number of donors encourages others to support us too. So, whatever you can give you can be sure that your contribution is effective and greatly appreciated.
Why is Give TogeTHer different to any other event?
Gifts made to Give TogeTHer will go even further than usual. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, a certain amount raised will be matched pound for pound. Furthermore, several donors have provided challenge funds that will be unlocked once we achieve particular goals. Challenges will be launched closer to the time. NB: For tax purposes, donors who participate in the giving challenges will be credited for their individual contributions only.
How can I make my gift?
We want to make it easy for you to participate in Give TogeTHer and gifts can be made in a variety of ways on the day. You can donate online using the 'Make a Gift' buttons at the top of this page. Alternatively you can send a cheque made out to "Trinity Hall - Development" to The Development Office, Trinity Hall, Trinity Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1TJ. Gifts must be received by 31 May to count towards our final Give TogeTHer campaign.
Can I make a gift before Give TogeTHer?
Yes! We know that all donors’ schedules may not allow them to participate during the Giving Event itself. You can send your gift by post or make a gift online through the website in advance of Give TogeTHer. Please be sure to indicate that your gift should support “Give TogeTHer”.
How can I help spread the word?
Your support will make a huge difference to Trinity Hall and to the success of our third Giving Event. Post about Give TogeTHer with the hashtag #GiveTogeTHer on Facebook, Twitter (X), and Instagram - and don’t forget to tag us! Make sure to tell your friends about this exciting day to get them involved and make a difference.
Is my credit card payment secure?
Online - Yes, we’re using a secure, off-site payment processor called Blackbaud Merchant Services to process our online credit card transactions.
Phone - We no longer take credit or debit card payments directly over the phone in College, instead we use Paytia which works alongside Stripe to process these transactions in a secure environment. Simply call our secure payment line on +44 (0)1223 850929 and by pressing ‘1’ we will be able to process your kind gift*.
*Our office hours are usually 9:00am to 5:00pm. If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a message when prompted and we will contact you as soon as possible.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation I can make?
The minimum online and phone gift amount is £1. There’s no maximum donation.
Can I claim Gift Aid on this donation?
Yes! So long as you are a UK taxpayer and have paid as much Income Tax and/or Capital Gains tax as the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year, the College can reclaim the basic tax rate (25%) on your gift, with no extra cost to you. So, your donation of £100 will actually be worth £125.
Will my Give TogeTHer contribution be tax-deductible?
UK: If you’re in the UK and eligible for Gift Aid, Trinity Hall can claim 25% back in tax from your donation. If you’re a Higher Rate Taxpayer (40% and above), you can claim tax back on your charitable donations at the end of the tax year.
USA: Gifts given to Cambridge in America are tax efficient.
CANADA: We can provide a receipt from the University for taxpayers in Canada.
